Recycling NVQs - Level One

Designed For:
This award is the very first of a number of new awards for the recycling industry. The NVQs in Recycling Operations are work-based qualifications designed for those employed within the recycling industry. The main objectives of the awards are to offer the opportunity to prove competence of industrial performance, knowledge and understanding and to recognise the ability of individuals working in the sector. The awards have been designed to allow progression through the various levels where appropriate.

Content:

Level one (you are required to select 9 out of the 14 units for the full award)
•    101 Contribute to a safe working environment for self and others
•    102 Maintain effective working relationships during recycling operation
•    103 Contribute to maintaining standards of service
•    104 Contribute to the sustainability, maintenance and preservation of the environment
•    105 Assist in the collection of recyclable materials
•    106 Assist in operating equipment for the processing of recyclable materials
•    107 Assist in the handover of recyclable materials
•    108 Assist in the safe operation of the work vehicle during recycling operations
•    109 Clean and maintain processing facilities and equipment
•    110 Contribute to the security of processing facilities
•    111 Assist in the sorting and preparation of recyclable materials for processing
•    112 Assist in the maintenance of plant and equipment for processing
•    113 Assist in preparing plant and equipment for processing operations
•    114 Assist in operating processing plant


Course Entry requirements:
No specific prior qualifications, learning or experience are required for the candidates undertaking the qualification. However, the nature of both the learning and assessment required for the qualification is such that candidates will need basic literacy and numeracy skills.

Duration:
It is envisaged that learners will require support in order to complete each unit, assessments process can take up to two years.
